    @mikebabb @bobstechsite I use an ex-corporate X220 that I got from eBay, complete with docking station. The eBay seller refurbished it and installed an SSD and it flies along running Debian as a 'desktop' machine.

    When I need to travel somewhere, I take it off the dock and throw it in the bag, and my setup travels with me. It's nicer and quieter and more convenient than having a tower buzzing away all day, and uses less power.

    I have been running it for >3 years and it's still perfect.

      @bobstechsite @mikebabb The only criticism I have, and this is perfectly understandable because of its age, is that the laptop screen could be better. It isn't particularly bright and the 1366x768 resolution is a bit small in 2018.

      But 90% of the time I'm using it docked with a nice big 1080p monitor and mechanical keyboard, so it's fine. I wouldn't pay hundreds of pounds more for a slightly better laptop screen.
