The more I read about peertube the more I feel like it was quickly cobbled-together to capitalize on the money they can get trend-surfing than concerned with an actual viable product, though I do find it funny the DMCA concerns I raised (and also @bob iirc also talked about) are still not addressed in the 1.0 version.
You are never going to stop piracy in its tracks, whatever the law seems to expect, but you do have to have the tools to stop egregious instances of it and peertube frankly just doesn't. Â Deleting individual movies doesn't address the underlying cause of bad users, and there's no user moderation at all I can see. Â And it has the same fediverse third-degree of seperation problem we already grapple with: you can defederate a bad instance, but you'll still get them through middlemen with shares/etc.
