read more of The Age of Surveillance Capitalism and in the chapter I just finished reading Shoshana is talking about the origins of Google and how the combined pressures of the dot-com bubble burst of the early 2000s and venture capital circling forced it to hand wave away the founder's dislike for ads in search engines

and how that caused it start using the behavioural surplus it gathered from search queries to essentially create surveillance capitalism as we know it today
