               Hate the guy who made that scenario. In my first try I survived only with a mage of light, which wasn't enough to finish the campaign. Had to play all over again :-/

                  Apparently, you can finish the campaign even if you lose most of your units. At least, that's what the walkthrough says. https://wiki.wesnoth.org/TheEasternInvasion

                     In my next attempt, I managed to get an Iron mauler, mage of light, a holy amulet wielding Royal guard, paladin and an ogre through the bridge. Then in the subsequent scenarios, managed to develop a mage, who became a great mage in the final scenario.
