@dirtycommo @lesbianhacker People are certainly in need of better options. And I do rather think the organization should follow the people. The other way round tends to go bad places. Your offer to be a helper just now is a good start, as Mr. Rogers famously enjoined. We certainly need rigorous good will and service right now, all over our poor little marble world.

But you know all that. I do like your idea of play as a litmus test. I’ve heard it elsewhere and it has much honest worth.

There are possibly more playful fora, depending on how you define that, but tend to narrow in defined focus or population proportionally. The more general the platform, the more frustrating the failures. Back to gopher again...?

In some ways it was ever thus. Usenet was a cesspit in the mid 90’s, too... if less authoritarian in character, natch.

@dirtycommo Toobnix.org is the SDF project for a Peertube instance. Dunno how much they think they can scale it. Sysops are just now setting it up, and will be phasing in more users soon, evidently.

I reckon to put up some videos of my C64 being patient with my ignorance, maybe soldering some radio bits, some nice flowers, maybe a puppet show. I might upload some rare Chomsky things. Something like that.

Sorry, still trying to grok: So let’s say you had a GopherMessages system which served Gophermaps and content to particular users. I see Tor makes a nice tunnel, but not that gopher itself can authenticate a user. Maybe cgi handling results from a password in the query fields? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such a beast.
