I can't wait until I can begin removing OStatus-related code from Mastodon. I think GNU social is the last remaining fediverse project that hasn't yet switched to ActivityPub? #mastodev
It would be cool if there was a machine-readable way to represent various Mastodon server rules.
Then they could not only be filtered by such rules on directories like instances.social, but apps could display summaries when displaying a sign up screen.
I imagine it might work a bit like rubocop rule names (e.g. "Style/FrozenStringLiteralComment") but I don't know how practical this idea is. Don't take this as me planning to do it, just sharing thoughts.
I was invited to consult a European research project called Eunomia. The project aims to implement a web of trust system for the spread of news in social networks, and I will be advising them on how their system can work with decentralized social networks, and Mastodon in particular. I'll also be doing community outreach, since at some point we'll need volunteers for trying it out.
The kick-off meeting is in January, in London. I bought the tickets today. Excited & equally terrified.
@Jackster All the SCSS files are ultimately compiled into one CSS file, so where you put something isn't as important. But I do have a mental map, from memory, of where roughly each component's styles are. And when not, I use the search-in-folder function of Sublime Text.
I am really happy with how much more cozy my room has become since last year. L-shaped table, thick thermal curtains, a hue lamp and lightstrip, a tiny Christmas tree...
