Stop making our cities compete against each other for the 'prize' of a TV channel HQ, for goodness sake! We are not rivals, we are all on the same team here, Team UK 🇬🇧
@ND3JR What is it? I can't quite tell. It's quite common here to have wall sockets with USB power sockets in them to save having lots and lots of mains-USB adapters plugged in all the time.
@richdecibels If there was a Tumblr for "inappropriate use of hashtags" (which there should be) then that org chart would go on it.
Also, stability at work is underrated - one of the big issues with productivity these days is constant chopping and changing and rearranging by management who have little else to do and need to justify their existence somehow. Just let people get on with their jobs and stop rearranging them!
@medusa The other irritation for me is that it's very rarely reciprocal - we're constantly told to care about American stuff because it's American and therefore Important, but most Americans don't give a shit about things happening outside their borders.
@medusa I do think as Europeans we're asked to care about US stuff online an awful lot these days. There is a lot happening in the US that doesn't apply to us here, and yet you can't move online for people outwith the US getting angry about things happening there.
I think we'd be a lot better off if people concentrated a bit more on stuff happening closer to home - here in the UK there's a lot to care about but people are ranting online about Congress doing something or other...
Also, I include Mozilla in that. They're very good at kicking up a massive stink if there are any proposed US regulations, but silent on things affecting those of us in the rest of the world.
@crakila Why are so many people in Ireland obsessed with the English premier league? It's not that exciting even if you live here. Is it a betting thing?
@bobstechsite I was in Oban in Scotland earlier in the year and someone had gone around putting passages from that article on stickers on parking meters, of all places.
@bobstechsite I used to work in an office where everyone had that thing on their phone - every couple of hours it'd go off around the room and everyone would go "ooh! what's happened!" excitedly.
I'm increasingly convinced that most offices are just constructs where nothing of economic value actually happens.
@cathal Not annoying, just amusing. The BBC also run regular GDPR jingles. "Text us now on such-and-such number, but first don't forget to look at our privacy policy at www..." I'm not even joking 😆
@cathal I rang up the local radio station the other day to report a traffic problem outside my house - I had to sit through literally 60 seconds of #GDPR waffle before being put through to the producer.
