@clacke Is it nicer than the (already nice) Swedish cheese they sell in Ikea?
I have been known to go into Ikea just for cheese. (I live half a mile from an Ikea.)

@gc Never used either, but heard good things about Mail in a Box (https://mailinabox.email/) and Mailcow (https://mailcow.email/).

@dominicduffin1 It's a lot simpler to dig up a farmer's field, because you only have to get permission from one entity, the farmer. Digging urban and suburban streets is a minefield of council permission, other people who have cables and pipes down there, it's prohibitively expensive and complex for a small community operation.
I'm not sure that a microwave link from a property to a local high point or mast would be much worse performance-wise than a fixed line.

How come some sellers are able to sell items with free postage for less than the postage costs?
There's a seller selling an item for £1.12 with free postage, listed as Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For. That costs a minimum of £1.89 for the size of item they're selling.
I know you can get bulk postage discounts, but with the cost of the item and the cost of postage surely they are still on negative margins?

Clearing out some forgotten drawers to make it easier to move soon and found this anti #Brexit pamphlet from the heady days of early 2016.

@idmyn I use the (Google) Noto fonts as my main UI fonts. They're the default on KDE and available in the Debian repositories - they are genuinely free fonts.
The main issue with Google Fonts isn't the fonts themselves, it's the fact that they come from Google servers, meaning yet another connection to Google on random websites, and yet another opportunity for them to track people around the web.
I still use Google Web Fonts on my site but I'd like to find an alternative to that.

@joshmillard Royal Mail are very persistent. They'll ring and bang and ring and bang until you come to the door and get your damn package, damn it.
But some of the other firms have a modus operandi of "if I tiptoe up to the house very quietly and leave a 'you were out' card in the letterbox, they'll have to come to our office and collect and I won't have to do any work".

@ZiiX I like how they have put Braille on the sign but the rest of the contraption would be utterly impenetrable to a blind or visually-impaired person. They are probably breaking some kind of disability laws here.

@vfrmedia Everywhere seems to be bidding for Channel 4 at present. Leeds seems convinced it'll get it, as does Stoke-on-Trent.
I'm not sure what purpose this 'beauty contest' serves. Having cities and towns compete against each other for this kind of investment seems counterproductive. Shouldn't we all be on team Britain?

@kristiinakello DJs talking up to the vocal is my pet hate! It's not 1994, this isn't Hot Rockin' Rock FM, let the song breathe.
"107... Balls FM... time's just coming up to eighteen minutes past four... weather today, sunny, highs of eighteen... degrees... in Bradford... [vocal!]"
Stop it.

@kristiinakello You'll only ever hear Roll To Me by Del Amitri at two minutes to the hour. It's exactly two minutes long and is a perfect crutch if you've forgotten to backtime to the news.
