Nakamoto wanted to create a system for #payments that would circumvent governments, bankers, and corporations. Instead, Bitcoin is now a get-rich-quick scheme that retains none of the exciting, anarchist features it proposed and has created a secondary #economy with financial shenanigans that mirror the ones that led to the global financial crisis."
This is a really important time to push free and open source alternatives to #Patreon! I've considered using @Liberapay, but was afraid I had to use Patreon to get the network effect.
@alejandroindependiente @aw another thing about bitcoin. It's sometimes said to be "anonymous", but really it isn't. It's a public ledger. A limited amount of privacy might be maintained by having separate bitcoin addresses, but as soon as bitcoins are transferred between addresses there's a publicly visible audit trail and you're deanonymised. In most cases I expect there will be a full audit trail between credit card transaction to obtain an initial balance and all subsequent transactions.
@alejandroindependiente @aw I dunno, maybe someone might want to send bitcoins to you. But this is where the grand scheme falls down, because as far as I can tell bitcoin isn't really used as a working currency and instead it's just held as a speculative asset. My rule of thumb is that if I can't buy bread with a currency then it's not of much real value.
Agree with you. Also I don't like the idea of buying currency and selling it for higher profit. You're not contributing anything tangible to the society, but you get huge profit.
Concerning the question about washing clothes without detergent -- you don't really need to use detergent unless your clothes are exceptionally oily or dirty -- try it! If you soak your clothes in water, then agitate them a little bit by hand, that usually does it. You can use a little white vinegar as a disinfectant if you like. If you can hang them in the sun to dry, that has further disinfectant effect. But detergent is not really necessary.
