      In December, I converted my one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco into a “smart home.” I connected as many of my appliances and belongings as I could to the internet: an Amazon Echo, my lights, my coffee maker, my baby monitor, my kid’s toys, my vacuum, my TV, my toothbrush, a photo frame, a sex toy, and even my bed.

    @mitsu I don't really know about programming so you aren't alone here. Even then, it is something you can slowly pick up by talking with others. Don't worry about it. Your timeline is yours, it is for your own needs. We all use social media for our own purposes. Find yours and stick with it. Don't worry about what others are posting about. You aren't bothering them by posting what you want to, and they can always choose to unfollow if it does. So just assume that the people following you like the content you post, and keep doing what you need to do to make this experience your own.

    @mangeurdenuage Well, isn't that just tough cookies? It happens all the time. They just now have tech that can tell on you so you aren't even safe at home and have to assume a third party can hear every word you say.

    It is funny how not long ago, I wanted to be away from the house I live in. Now that I am, I want to be away from here too. I really, really need to move to a house I can call home. Where I don't have to live by the rules other people set. It is tiring.

    I really don't want to live in those techy dystopias that you see in stories... Surrounded by tech that can either tell on you or end up having a mind of its own and turning against you. Or being hacked.

    I hate the direction that tech is moving towards. Nowhere is sacred and safe from it. It is bad enough that I live in a country full of surveillance. The last thing I want to do is invite it into a home that is supposed to be safe.
