Like I said, they're a little intense. Julian Ichim is a local activist and community organizer, working on housing and shelter for the homeless, safe consumption sites, and advocating internationally for 32CSM and the Cuban Five. He's been harassed by local and provincial police, spent time in jail for his beliefs. Julian and his group are outside of mainstream politics, but good people.
@bobjonkman I'll probably end up meeting the guy for coffee this afternoon, since I have a half-day at work today, and I'm pretty sure his schedule is flexible. It's been tough to arrange a meeting, because he actually lives three hours away, but is in my city semi-regularly for various reasons.
(What's with the military cosplay in that photo, though?)
Did I mention on here that the local Marxist-Leninist party agreed to meet with me? And now I'm kind of trying to (politely) back out of it because, although I would be interested in getting involved with a socialist organization, I'm thinking these guys are a little cultist and maybe, for all its flaws, the NDP socialist caucus might be the better vehicle after all?
#shortwave#radio listening is a great way to listen to other countries news/music/culture without the need of #internet and most important, without leaving and spreading your personal fingerprint all over the place (IP addresses, hours and listening habits, stations and content you listen to). Shortwave listening is a great way to stay off the grid and makes you learn more about communications and alternative ways to stay informed. #radio#swling#hamradio
