   I heard the term "TABs" for the first time, in an accessibility context. TAB stands for "Temporarily Able-Bodied", and is a term that puts a focus on the fact that having a disability or being able-bodied is not an essential trait, it's where you are in life.

   Of course, some people may be able-bodied their whole life, and you should build universally useful things not because you might personally benefit but because it's the right thing to do. But I think the term is an interesting twist on things, that might help people put things in perspective.

     It's impossible for a computer nerd to hear "TABs" without thinking about the age-old conflict about tabs vs spaces for indentation of program text.

     In the disability context #TabsVsSpaces could be about how people without disabilities go and design bad spaces that work only for them.

   !fedibikes group !Radverkehr Ich bin im Moment dabei, verschiedene Tracking-Möglichkeiten für meine Räder unter Android zu testen. Ich teste derzeit Tile Pro, Chipolo ONE Point und Chipolo ONE. Das Tile und das Chipolo ONE nutzen ihre eigenen Netzwerke, das Chipolo ONE Point nutzt das "Mein Gerät finden" von Google.

   Meine Erfahrung derzeit ist, dass das Chipolo-Netzwerk unbrauchbar ist. Bei Tile und bei Google ist mal das eine, und mal das andere besser. Es gibt dort keinen klaren Favoriten. Ich habe mir die Halter von bik3d.com/ bestellt, sobald diese angekommen sind, reiche ich gerne meine Erfahrung nach. Ich werde an meinen Rädern das Chipolo ONE Point und das Tile Pro anbringen. Das Chipolo ONE (das ich schon vor einiger Zeit gekauft habe), werde ich ggf. für Dinge wie Schlüsselbunde oder so verwenden.

    I’ve seen someone trying to defend Israel by replacing any occurence of “Zionist” with “Jewish” in prominent politicians public social media posts.

    I know “Zionist” can be a dog whistle for “Jewish people”, but to assume everybody indiscriminately does it implies for me that “Zionism” wouldn’t have a meaning of its own besides this dog whistle. Notwithstanding this being factually wrong, it would also make the Jewish people collectively responsible for the 1946 King David Hotel bombing and the worst bits of Israel colonization efforts and the current genocide in Gaza, which feels counter-productive to me.

      @Emmanuel Florac Exactly, and that’s where the blanket replacement fails, for me. We need a specific word for Zionism, otherwise we end up with yet another warped worldview that conflates Israel with the larger Jewish people. And I don’t think that’s wise when you’re trying to defend Israel, although I understand how it’s desirable, since it enables you to wrongly claim antisemitism. Without any credibility given the flawed premise, but it’s got to stick sometimes.
