How to write a headline about a #mozilla #firefox release and put #torture in the headline. Just as clickbait. C'mon folks.... https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/09/03/firefox_v69_released_cookie_blocking/ http://www.tuxmachines.org/node/127640

Today in tortured tech analogies: Mozilla lets Firefox loose in the hen house, and by hen house, we mean the tracking cookie jar, er...
Remember when people didn't use browsers from the one of world's biggest adtech giants?

"Unfortunately, #Slack calls aren't available in this browser. We recommend downloading the Slack desktop app, or you can switch to Chrome."

Take a hike, Slack, #Firefox isn't some obscure web browser you couldn't possibly support.

For intellectual curiosity (and illusion of security maybe):

How to disable *ALL* of android system "trusted credentials"/certificates? instead of clik/scroll/clik/clik on each item of a list of 2/300+? It looks like it has been designed so you wouldn't do that...

Also what happens when you do it? You just need to re-enable them one by one if/when you need them?

(Also prompts questions about all that #firefox trusts by default: many governments, many chambers of commerce, random corps etc.)

Big changes to #orca #screenreader vis vis #firefox Time to pull again and rebuild Master? #a11y I'm concerned that many of these look like per-website fixes/work-arounds. An accumulation of these will make orca's gecko support an unwieldy mess; is this really the best practice? Maybe it's time to blame web authors for making these ad hok things necessary?

Back in 2018, #Chrome, #Safari, #Firefox and #Edge announced they would deprecate TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 support in January 2020.

I set security.tls.version.min=3 in Firefox, it helps spot websites not supporting TLS 1.2+.

Two questions come to my mind:

    1) Is this schedule still up-to-date or do the editors decided to step back (can't find something more recent than a few years ago)?

    2) Is there a similar schedule to deprecate unencrypted HTTP (more recent than 2015 with no schedule)?

    Thanks!

Firefox 69 for Linux: to bring even more performance boost.

The recent release of Mozilla Firefox 68 brought in some nice performance improvements that Linux users can enjoy.

Firefox 69 (now @ beta) opens up even better experience, including enabling WebRender on Linux.

Firefox 69.0 is to be released on 3 September indeed with WebRender enhancements, disabling the Adobe Flash plug-in by default (finally!) +more.

#Firefox 68 was just released. Apparently this is the new ESR version.

Historically #Debian moves to the newest ESR version, even on Stable, once the old ESR is end-of-lifed. This was the case for Stretch, anyway.

Will be interesting to see if this holds true for Buster as well.

Goodbye, Chrome: Google’s web browser has become spy software

Our latest privacy experiment found Chrome ushered more than 11,000 tracker cookies into our browser — in a single week. Here’s why Firefox is better.

@musicman Odd. It seems to work in #Palemoon 28.5.2. https://nu.federati.net/notice/3002335

I now have #Firefox 67.0.4, so I'll try it from there.

It seems that #Firefox is feeling cranky this morning as it just took down my entire #OpenBSD machine. Again.

I think I'm going to have to open up this machine and reseat some components to see if that fixes anything. I may also need to replace the HDD. Never mind that I still need to replace the keyboard and battery...

Might just be easier to replace the computer. 🤷♂️

I wonder if #Clonezilla would support cloning an OpenBSD installation. 🤔

Recently Github is sending me a device verification email every single time I need to login, and I need to do this after every browser start because my default setting is to throw away all the cookies except for a few selected sites (my own sites and Mastodon, basically). So, what changed? Did I get a new version of Firefox/Purebrowser that somehow prevents Github from fingerprinting my browser? Did Github add fingerprinting just recently?
