Unsplash didn't say where this is. Please tell me so I can add it to my post-isolation tour of baroque and neo-gothic libraries. The Clementinum and Ottawa's Library of Parliament currently top the list.
Next project for switching the #library to Linux. Since our new #opensource ILS (Koha) is web based we can use a customized snap of Firefox to access it. This will allow staff to have a browser just for the ILS.
In order to make checkouts efficient we've omitted the browser asking which printer to use when checkout slips are printed. But it makes it tough when we need to print something else out.
Having Koha partitioned in an snap should solve stuff like this.
Just got the book "Better work together" in the mail today for my #library. Super excited about it! Looks like a great book on how to do #business and #community differently.
“They (students, graduates...) discovered that they could not get access to the #research results that they needed because they were no longer affiliated with the University. They came knocking on my door and I had to tell them then as a #librarian I was in this awkward position that I had to block non-affiliated users for access to publicly funded research. And that is completely contrary to the mission of a #library and a librarian...”
Thinking about installing a separate #IIIF server with the library's omeka-s install to facilitate on-the-fly tiling with #UniversalViewer. I've played around with #Cantaloupe so far. Likes easy to setup, self-contained server. Dislikes: Java based. Anyone have any recommendations for an up-to-date IIIF server written in #python? Or other suggestions. #library
@guerrillarain And don't forget #libraries! Using them, funding them, donating books to them (which can be a form of funding, if the library has a used book store from donated books), and maybe even make some niche libraries for friends/neighbors with https://inventaire.io/welcome #books#library
#Unidoc is a #PDF generation #library for the Go programming language. Arguably one of the best such tools available, by the same experienced team of the Fox PDF tools.
Licencing it works like this:
1) Play nice, use it freely under the AGPL 3.
or, at your option:
2) Be a horrible, selfish person and buy a commercial licence for $1000 (personal use) or $3000 (for business, unlimited servers) https://unidoc.io/pricing/
Stoked to simultaneously be getting #Makerspace resources going in our #communityCollege#library and becoming the staff advisor for the nascent, related Makerclub. The fact that the folks involved are already discussing fiber arts & even looms as part of the plan helps me feel like it’s an inclusive, open-minded bunch of students. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
We are starting a library on the occasion of our anniversary that falls on 14th April 2018 . All are welcome Special thanks to @SFLCin for generously sponsoring the library and donating two laptops to center. #Library#ambedkarjayanti#anniversary
