That absolute worst thing about being a #Mastodon instance admin is when someone signs up with a really cool username and then vanishes without posting anything.
There are reasons why I'm proud of my "home" setup:
1. It just works. 2. I know what I build, so I can fix it. 3. It's all a single login. 4. Maintenance is fully automated. 5. It federates in many ways and therefore doesn't limit, but enable me to share things.
What runs on my setup?
- #Keycloak for authentication - #Mastodon as microblog - #Nextcloud for storage - Synapse for #Matrix as chat - Postfix/dovecot/SOGo for email - #CodiMD for notes - And #GitLab to rule and maintain it.
Thanks Aaron, I appreciate the compliment, however I can't expect all my contacts on Twitter (this was cross-posted from over there) to move to #Friendica. #Mastodon would still be a nice easier change for them.
Just checking #twitter notifications before work and it's taking far too long because the Twitter UI/UX is utter crap compared to #diaspora#pleroma and #mastodon (no filter options at all!)
Are there #YVR or #FraserValley meetups for #Mastodon#Fediverse people? I want to talk to fediverse people IRL but I have to limit it to locals because the line between giddiness and smugness of this returnee could be fuzzy to non-BC folk. I do have long-term friends but they're either sick or full with family and work commitments. I don't want to hear "you didn't know this? Where have you BEEN?" from them.
Account migration "easier than ever, and with 3.0 comes the ability to bring your followers with you like magic!" Thanks a lot! I think that's one of the most important feature for a decentralized network! https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2019/10/mastodon-3.0/#Mastodon
I love how #Mastodon can make me feel better at the end of the day, whether it's been a great one or a terrible one. Thanks to all my friends on here for being so awesome.
Right, I'm not insane enough to go straight to the most recent #mastodon release. The 2.5.0 release notes make that a good first step, after taking the advised database dump.
