"Net neutrality allowed me to invent the web without having to ask for permission. In a matter of days, the FCC could vote to reverse #NetNeutrality protections. Call your representatives. Tell them to keep the internet open!"

TBL is a tragic figure. His endorsement of the EME standard this year makes his now standing up for net neutrality seem hollow and hypocritical. Even if the internet remains relatively neutral probably more content will get locked down with EME and I doubt it will be strictly limited to video. A locked down web is not an open space for collaboration and sharing between the world's citizens.

This year I think there has been more soul searching about the future of the internet. What direction should it take? Is the currently situation hopeless and best abandoned to be replaced by something new? The current forces in play seem to be directed on a path towards the destruction of everything we value. https://social.freedombone.net/attachment/63375

    - Google forces DRM into web standards to limit your access to content based on money, location, & software.

    - Google now is blocking ALL YouTube content from competing platforms.

    - But Google supports #NetNeutrality because "freedom".

    Riiiiiight.

@Xil According to Molyneaux, this is what Comcast, Verizon, and Netflix were up to just before Obama rolled out #NetNeutrality. Netflix utilization was working Comcast's network hard enough they felt the need to respond with throttling, unless Netflix would subsidize their network costs. Netflix agreed. Then Verizon wanted a piece and Netflix caved for them, too.

The whole concept of #NetNeutrality is a choice that Internet users never had was suddenly placed in their lap. What else are they going to do but regulate in their own best interest? Isn't that what any crooked politician would do with newfound powers?

Do #NetNeutrality supporters actually believe ISPs will roll out tiered speed plans to different sites? Isn't it much more likely they'll charge content providers (like Netflix, Hulu, etc.) to make up for the transmission costs.

If we have net neutrality, it's more likely your ISP bill will go up a bunch. Otherwise, it's likely your Netflix bill will be impacted, but not by as much.
