#ubuntu #mate 3.18 is now installed on the #thinkpad and working well, now that I've removed two troublesome applications from startup-- Ubuntu welcome and Dejadup Monitor. The maintainers have fixed lightdm; now, it talks when #orca #screenreader is toggled with 'alt+mod4+s'. I find the Software Boutique utility completely inaccessible. Using #apt is fine, but I wanted to check. For gui browsing of the collection, there's always synaptic, which does not come with the distro, but can be installed.

#Gedanken

Sortie de la sous-release 16.04.4LTS avec une version upgradé de Mesa et le noyau de la 17.10 déjà inclus (4.13).
    Iso : http://releases.ubuntu.com/16.04.4/

Sangari sells antagonism to freedom, delivering to schools exactly the opposite of what Mark Shuttleworth had in mind when he supported Inkululeko Technologies, which now redirects to Sangari

#canonical marketing pitch has never been Debian's "we respect users, freedom, privacy etc."

    "Linux for human beings?" No.

#ubuntu currently advertises itself as, "hey! We can do Skype. And Slack! Oh, and send us your hardware/location data to be catalogued"

I told RMS to respond to #canonical #privacy abuses, which he did in his site and FSF etc. Years have passed and #ubuntu now repeats this sort of attitude. Stop treating users of software like something to be “mined” or treated like “assets”…

With its latest #privacy blunder (collecting user hardware info and location), #canonical and #ubuntu add to the perception not even #freesw can be trusted. A number of years ago they sent #amazon (yes, Amazon!) list of things you search >locally< in #gnu #linux

@aendi moin.
