You guys, I think I'm sensing some tension between Linus Torvalds and Richard Stallman.. Anyone else feel this way?

My first experience with Linux was dual-booting Ubuntu and Windows 7 back in 2012. I had installed Ubuntu onto an external hard drive, and somehow got grub onto that hard drive, so nothing would boot if the hard drive wasn't plugged in. This was when I discovered how helpful the Linux community was with any issue, no matter how silly or crazy.
To that end, welcome to all new members of Fosstodon, and may your RAM remain available, yet cached.

Saw a post somewhere exhorting the LibreOffice team to leave the 90s and actually compete with MSOffice, and I could not agree more. There is so much potential to catch up and become even more user-friendly than Office. The first step is giving up the ghost and implementing ribbons. Not all users are grumpy old guys from the good old days of dial-up, and looking to the past is no way to grow the future.
