Time for another status update on #rbadev :
Past weekend I used most of my time to setup my x200. Its still not liberated but now at least everything I need to do productive work on it is in place. 😀
Because of this my changes on #rba are mostly a few bugfixes this time. Futhermore I started working on a new quest. I hope I'll be ready to push it somewhen this week. The quest will be about a bannished orc who asks for some special food items in order to survive.

It's easy to make #minetest blueprints using the #foss #voxel editor, Goxel.

Here's a short tour of the features I've been using:

    @PhilippeLhardy
This makes sence. I don't wanted to say that this is a bad thing. I just was wondering.
I hope there will be more content in other languages in the future because this is an important point to increase the userbase.
I'll keep an eye on this project.

I checked out #peertube today for the first time in a while.
Is it just me or are 80% of the videos there in french?

#PeerTube is a free open alternative to YouTube:

    https://joinpeertube.org/en

It's federated through ActivityPub, so you can follow PeerTube channels on Fediverse sites like Mastodon etc.

It uses peer-to-peer technology so even viral videos won't bring an instance down. The more people watch, the more bandwidth they contribute.

    There are several apps:

    -#Mastalab ( @tom79 ), also works with Mastodon

    -#PeerTubePlayer, on #Fdroid and Play

    -#P2Play, under development at @p2play

    1. Build Retro Games with Script-8
      By Al Williams from Hackaday

A whole generation of programmers learned to program by writing — or at least typing in — game programs for relatively simple computers like a TRS-80, a Commodore 64, or any of a handful of similar machines. These days, games are way more complicated and so are computers. Sure, it is more fun to play Skyrim than Snake, but for learning, you are probably going to get more out of starting with a simple game. If you want to learn programming today — or maybe start someone else on that same journey, you should check out Script-8, a project by [Gabriel Florit]. You can get a taste of how it looks in the video below, or just surf over to the site and play or modify a game (hint: press “a” to launch the ball).

Instead of paraphrasing, here’s the excellent elevator speech from the web site:

SCRIPT-8 is a fantasy computer for making, sharing, and playing tiny retro-looking games (called cassettes). It’s free, browser-based, and open-source. Cassettes are written in JavaScript.

In some cases, Script-8 might be even better than the old machines. Everything you do causes an immediate reaction. There’s a variety of tools that let you pause and rewind action, a sprite editor, a map editor, and even a music editor.

It is easy enough to copy an existing “cassette” to a blank so you can make changes, so you don’t have to start from scratch, even though you can. Your workspace is 128 pixels square and only shows 8 colors, but that adds to the retro look and feel of the games.

Honestly, JavaScript is a bit harder than the old BASIC, but it is also way more practical in the modern world. If you really want BASIC, though, you can do that on the Web, too. Or you can relive yesteryear with a modern take on QuickBasic.

Still a bit expensive IMHO but okay.

BTW What I need looks like this:

Thats something I thougth about too.

I could life with the unfree bios but beeing unable to replace hardware really sucks.

But I am not willing to pay 40 euro for a clip with production costs of aproximately 40 cent.

    Updates on my #x200:

If I want to flash #libreboot I will need a special clip to connect the bios chip of the laptop to the GPIOs of a Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone Black.
Until now I have not found someone who sells this clips here in germany for an acceptable price. 😐

Looks like I have 3 options:

-running a libre os but life with the unfree uefi and use a wifi stick

    -install a not 100% libre GNU/Linux

-find someone who can help me with flashing libreboot

Past weekend I played a bit with my Tinkpad x200 and Trisquel GNU/Linux.
Trisquel looks and feels much better then I expected! The only thing that sucks is that it dosn't supports the laptops build in wifi chip. I can't replace this chip unless I flash #libreboot because the Lenovo bios would reject to boot otherwise.
Liberating this thing is harder then I thought it would be.
