maloki (maloki@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 17-Feb-2018 13:32:54 EST maloki Now that we have better email notifications from Mastodon, anyone feel like start poking people who haven't been here in a while?
I believe an interesting @ could bring anyone back, and if they didn't turn those mails off, we may see them within 14 days.
Just don't do it in reply to this post, or enmasse. Make it personal and unique. Let them know you miss them. -

Ctrl+Z (thezacattacks@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2018 12:58:24 EST Ctrl+Z Hmmmm. That seems like it. It's a good game. If you're into LoZ, open world games, or you're just on the fence about getting it, please do it. It's so good and beautiful and fun.
If I have any more thoughts I'll tack them onto the end of this thread.

Ctrl+Z (thezacattacks@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2018 12:58:13 EST Ctrl+Z Another issue I have with it is the fact that the camera seems to have a mind of its own during divine beast boss fights. I get that the boss moves around a lot and it's difficult to keep track of it, but also it's the only thing in the room? So I don't understand how it has so much trouble. This is a real issue when trying to block and dodge, for obvious reasons.

Ctrl+Z (thezacattacks@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2018 12:57:50 EST Ctrl+Z My biggest complaint about the game so far is that the death screen takes *WAY* too long before popping up the controls to allow the player to restart. I get it game, I died. Please allow me to restart. This is a quite an issue for someone like me, who sees the death screen a lot...

Ctrl+Z (thezacattacks@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2018 12:56:54 EST Ctrl+Z It truly gives the player a sense of accomplishment.
I also really like how they split off shrines from the normal over world. It's a nice way to break up the normal, exploratory style gameplay. Plus it fits well into the narrative lore. It's also really nice the way that they made the divine beasts more along the lines of "real" LoZ dungeons (i.e. puzzles and environmental hazards) which marks a clear distinction from the smaller shrine dungeon trials.

Ctrl+Z (thezacattacks@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2018 12:56:31 EST Ctrl+Z This game takes what Skyrim had hoped to do (get lost in a vast fantasy world setting) to the n-th degree, mostly by doing just the little things: clouds racing in front of the sun casting shadows, rain making climbing slopes more difficult, catching trees/brush on fire with torches. But the biggest thing by far is most definitely being able to climb things. It's *such* a good feeling to see a mountain off in the distance, climb it, then look back down to where you were.

Ctrl+Z (thezacattacks@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2018 12:55:55 EST Ctrl+Z Gameplay wise the closest comparison I can make is Skyrim: a huge open world that the player can explore, quests that can be doled out from small buildings and towns, various armor and weapons to select, etc. That's about where the comparison ends though. down to where you were. It truly gives the player a sense of accomplishment.

Ctrl+Z (thezacattacks@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2018 12:55:22 EST Ctrl+Z The game does this remarkable trick in making the player feel like the map is small, when it's actually huge.
Not only is it huge, but it's beautiful. The cell-shading looks absolutely stunning, especially when there are plenty of particles. It really makes everything stand out and pop. God, it's just gorgeous. It makes me want to go out and explore it just to see everything it has to offer.

Ctrl+Z (thezacattacks@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2018 12:53:56 EST Ctrl+Z just wow.
where to begin?
the storyline is pretty well-trodden territory, no surprise there.
what truly is surprising is the sheer vastness of this iteration of the land of Hyrule.
I keep getting surprised at just how huge it is. I spent roughly ~6 hours doing the Gerudo divine beast quest line, and exploring some of the surrounding area. After I began making my way back towards the main section of the map it dawned on me that I had spent all that time in one SECTION of the map
