Took an online course from GROW Observatory based out of Europe on Citizen Science. Completed the course and received certification of completion 😉
Learned about some of remote-sensing practices combining Satellites orbiting our earth and data collected by citizens on the ground, where both validate each other.
What to measure in a soil?
1. Moisture
2. Resistance/Conductance
3. Temperature
4. CapacitanceThese data can inform us the nature of soil over a period.

Idea for social coop:
Have a group of tech, business, legal and academic people interested in platform coops start a blog in Quora and answer questions about start-up models, solutions to the problems of big tech, etc.
No idea how Quora blogs work, seem to allow combining different users answers together. We could combine all our answers about coops in a systematic and categorized Q&A.
Happy to donate 50 $ to this.
I alone know 5 members who've written to Quora, I'm sure there's lot more.

A city, like a social network, can be hostile or welcoming, exploitative or cooperative; it can foster meaningful connections or impede them.
How can we become more intentional about the #cities we live in? We can look at examples of doing things differently, recognize patterns, adapt & apply them. This article by Amanda Abrams looks at a few examples of neighborhood organizing, from "senior villages" in the US to "sharing villages" in Korea:

Technical competency as a hindrance to contributions to the digital commons is a misnomer. You have to identify with a language, tool or free software project. If you love the linux kernel so much you will contribute. Competency only decides the kind of contribution. You will either introduce new features, fix bugs, clean old code or just write documentation but contribute you will.
Now what do you want to identify with?

Regarding Facebook tracking non-users Mark Zuckerberg said "This kind of data collection is fundamental to how the internet works."
I'm not a networking expert but I know enough to be able to confidently say that nothing at all about this data collection is fundamental to how the Internet works. I guess he was using Silicon Valley speak where "the internet" means "huge corporations who make most of their money by selling ads and illegally collecting as much data as possible".

Citations are as important to #science as hyperlinks are to the web. What if the entire citation graph was available as open data? We're getting closer to this being a reality. Dario Taraborelli, who leads Wikimedia's research team, writes on Boing Boing about the Initiative for Open Citations (https://i4oc.org/):
