🔩 Nextcloud Upgrade 🔩

Monday, about midnight (CEST - Amsterdam Local Time), we will be upgrading nextcloud (https://cloud.disroot.org) to the latest version. This means for about 1 hour the service will not be available.

🔥 Nextcloud - End-to-End Encryption - Disabled

Due to the issue in end to end encryption app, causing latest nextcloud client to break (version 2.5) we have to disable it until the issue is resolved. (issue in question) https://github.com/nextcloud/server/issues/12365 We will look into it deeper starting from tomorrow and try to provide more information to nextcloud devs to help them solve the issue

???? No emails sent nor recieved. ????

This night we have been updating email server which resulted in our anti-virus not starting properly. This in turn made our mail server not able to push all emails. We have fallen asleep together with our mailserver :P

This morning after realising something is fishy, we've fixed it all up. All your missing emails should be arriving shortly.

✉️ Emails to gmx.de and web.de blocked for disroot.org users ✉️

Due to a spammer attack originating from our servers disroot.org domain has been blocked by gmx.de and web.de email services.

We've spent last days trying to understand and find a way to eliminate that attack. We hope we've finally managed, but we are still blocked.

Yes we wish. Collabora for some months now supports encryption which is awesome.

However hosting collabora requires a lot of horse power which means we would need to deploy a dedicated server for only that. We have to make sure we have enough funds to host it first.

Because of some other improvements we've been working on that took long time to deploy, we're moving the operation of updating nextcloud to tomorrow.

It's a pity humans have to sleep :P

???? Short downtime ????

Due to some small changes to our network setup we had to restart the servers causing short downtime couple of minutes ago. Everything is back online already.

Ok things are back. New server is finally deployed.
In upcomming days we will be tweaking some settings to get the most of the new hardware and migrate remaining databases. This time however with much smaller downtimes.

** Nextcloud and Matrix downtime due to db migration **

We are about to migrate databases of matrix and nextcloud, and deply new server. We hope things will go back online asap but it might take an hour or two.

Backups. Always make backups ????

There are two kinds of people. Ones that make backups and the ones that will.

cloud.disroot.org is back up.

We are very sorry it took so long. We shouldn't have try updating nextclloud to the newest version without prior throught testing.

Disroot admins are very very sorry.

Due to some issues while uprading nextcloud, we've quickly deployed webmail for all those who use it.

Seems like we need to revert the upgrade of nextcloud, and re-test it (yes. it was a bold move form our side, but we thought we could get both the server upgrade and nextcloud update in one go).

Hi guys.
We're doing it. Server upgrade is on the way. For last days we tried to commence server upgrade with minimal downtime possible. However this seems to not be possible (damn you rsync speeds) and the longer we wait the more complicated it becomes.

We therefor decided to do it now instead of spending another night in the datacenter.
Currently cloud is down, and in an hour we are going to put the entire plaform down for about 3 hours (could be longer)

Tonight it's on. We are upgrading our infrastructure. For real!

We are going to deploy new database server as well as upgrade file storage capacity.

We hope to be able to do all that at once, with minimal downtime possible. However disroot platform might be offline for even few hours.
