    It's really very interesting that you missed that all of this stems from a 10+ year old PHP project that's technically still alive and well .)

    nosh: Educating users by giving them what they want

    Nosh 1.39 released:

    www.mail-archive.com/supervisi…

    And finally, a feature that you will not want.

    * unix.stackexchange.com/a/46516…

    Over many years, people have regularly asked for a terminal emulator where the line progression goes from bottom to top. The idea that they have is that they will find this easier than top to bottom. In response to a recent question in the same vein on Stack Exchange, I have given console-fb-realizer, console-ncurses-realizer, and console-termio-realizer the ability to realize displays with the line progression reversed.

    Having used this, it seems to me that people only want this because they have not tried it. Trying it makes a convincing case for not using it. So I have retained this feature in order that, at long last, there is an actual terminal system with this feature that people can try, and come to the same realization. (-:

    @kaniini I'm probably more lax than I should be but definitely beyond the average user. Agree entirely on pro failures but not nearly enough is done for the individual level to make it understandable and accessible to people, making them the massive weak link. People laugh about 'end user errors' a lot but quietly don't actually address it and instead keep everything ambiguous.

    • Belghast of Eternal Confusion

    @belghast @kaniini exactly. It's "haha your password is bad you fool, you imbecile" and so rarely "here's why your password is insecure, the reason we suggest you jump through these hoops, and what it could mean for you if something is compromised"

    I use my in-laws as an example of how these things are done. The former is incredibly insulting and at times infantalising, but too the latter is almost always phrased in a jargony way they wouldn't understand at all.
