    Fives stages of ORM usage

    1. This will save me so much time!
    2. Why are these work-arounds so complicated?!
    3. Maybe if I just write a few custom-queries
    4. This is hopeless! Why did I do this to myself?!
    5. This is my life now. Too much work to replace it.

I agree with Sophie in this: https://sophiebits.com/2018/12/03/yak-shaving-fixing.html

I just have to get better at diving into other people's code.

    Linux on the desktop
    👎 Cons:
    - Usually requires effort to set up
    - Some apps missing
    - Gaming not as good as Windows
    👍 Pros:
    - Updates don't suck as much as Mac or Win
    - Free (in every sense of the word)
    - Great dev experience
    - Comes in many (very different) flavours

GraphQL. If you're doing webdev or apps, check it out. It may not kill REST like some are claiming, but it is an awesome timesaver when developing client applications.

Not just while coding, but also communicating with backend developers.

The one thing that warrants skepticism of the global surveilance machine is that it seems very unlikely that the government could run such a big IT project without it failing catastrophically

RT @tante@twitter.com: The main problem with Github being bought by Microsoft isn't MS.

It's that in 2018 we still haven't learned that critical infrastructure shouldn't belong to one company ... and that we should avoid building single points of failure.
