It's a bit misleading, but I _think_ it refers to it being installed along with the Gnome desktop. I'm fairly sure it's not part of the base install, though (otherwise my freshly installed stretch server should have had it already).

Are you sure? At least Stretch doesn't install it by default... or at least not the minimal install / base image.

Nice catch, but I think I'd rather keep dropbear on 22 and move the regular SSH daemon to an entirely different port. Keeps the bulk of script kiddies away and fail2ban quiet 😂

Are you absolutely sure about that? I'm under the impression it's not the default for Debian Stretch. But the docs and config file are indeed a bit confusing in that regard...

I think it's actually the default setting to only apply security updates.
Make sure you setup the email notifications, so you always know what's going on on your machines!
