Geddup.com is struggling to convert to becoming a cooperative because it’s main users are trade unions that move really slowly.

But they have contributed to a lot of wins including making it easy for unions to engage with their members. Fascinating.

    Instead of crowd-funding, crowd-actions!

Co-op development process used by incubate.coop in Australia to get co-ops funded. Cultivate tribes not heroes!

Friends here in Tokyo are in the process of starting a media co-op. We are currently brainstorming a multi-stakeholder model that includes the following member classes: journalists, readers, organizations/special interest/unions, worker (editorial staff). This comes from a need identified by several journalists that there are no mainstream outlets for labour and minority issues related stories.

    A few asks:
    1) any successful examples?
    2) ideas of where to file legal incorporation docs?

Just blasted all of you on social.coop with a request for feedback on Reporting Guidelines.

I am usually sheepish about blasting people with requests, but feel justified (and hopeful!) as this is an integral piece of the Code of Conduct puzzle that will help to maintain social.coop as a safe and inclusive space!

Here's the link to the discussion thread on loomio: https://www.loomio.org/d/Kw1fzBDG/reporting-guidelines-feedback-for-revisions

On July 30th @ 14:00UTC another zoom conversation will take place with regards to the ongoing creation of Reporting Guidelines and Code of Conduct. We are soliciting feedback from the entire membership of social.coop to inform areas of concern that should be discussed and/or have been overlooked in the writing of the reporting guidelines to date. Here is the latest version of the Reporting Guidelines: https://pad.disroot.org/p/iA1MGxaLAq# I have attached a pdf of the guidelines should you not be able to access the online version above. Please note that there is a 'points for discussion' at the bottom of the document.

As always, a little social.coop reading brings a sprinkle of inspiration before bedtime.

Really like the structure of the Snowdrift CoC that was brought up in loomio discussion of social.coop CoC. I'm not sure it would work for social.coop verbatim but a good example of how much you can communicate in terms of tone/intention with very few words.
