Extraordinary things are happening in Shetland.

A Labour member, who was a former MSP candidate, has written a letter to the Shetland News appealing for islanders to:

    "Vote SNP, stop Boris."

I just watched the trailer. Perfectly understandable, even though the two leading ladies are Irish and English.

    That's a point.
I guess people do it because of the shape of smartphones. It is more natural to hold the 'phone in one hand, in an upright position. The problem could be solved by having the capture in landscape, even when the 'phone is being held in a portrait position.

I should point out that these Private Eye front-covers are from 2015 and 2011, respectively. Funny how they have become relevant again.

People recording videos with their smartphones in PORTRAIT mode really gets my goat.

Ruth also managed to fill the start & middle sections with failure.

What now for the Ruth Davidson Party?

    Independence March & Rally
    Dunfermline
    Saturday August 31, 2019

    Assemble from 10.30am.

Considering to-day's events I think this march & rally is going to be much bigger than anyone anticipated.

Had she refused the PM's request, it would have been an even bigger constitutional crisis. Her role is pointless, a leftover from times past. Signing this and that is about maintaing that she has a important role to play. Whereas, in reality, we only need someone to hold banquets, and shake hands at airports.

She isn't impartial, she is part of the British state.

Right, this is a bit up-in-the-air as nothing like this has happened before.

Even if there was a Vote of No Confidence in Johnson, and he lost that vote, I believe he could sit tight. There isn't actually a compulsion for him to leave office on losing a VoNC. He might offer to have a General Election, according to his timeframe, as that would also suit his objective (running down the clock).

I fear BoJo has the upper hand.

    It's just posturing, isn't it?

"Widespread democratic resistance": what does that mean? Demos? The people storming parliament? I don't know.

"That the people's voice is able to be heard"; that's a bit woolly. Do we need a megaphone? TBF the people's voice was heard when they voted Leave. I don't think that result supported no-deal, but still...

The problem was created by all those MPs who voted to trigger Article 50 without a plan
