Instagram is home to many communities of artists like #pickupjazz which promote and collaborate with each other. For me Instagram is a great place to discover and follow indie creators. PixelFed could be that.

The great thing about being a developer using an open-source app is that you can treat complaints you have with the app as an opportunity to help improve it.
