@TomNovak As a young poor dude with bad credit it is pretty easy for me to eschew usury. It lives right next to blasphemy and sodomy according to Dante's non-canonical fantasy. For me, time doesnt make that financial alchemy any more acceptable in the eyes of God, though I know that he meets us where we are and knows our hearts and that his mercy has no ceiling.

Like, so much so that you probably would not be allowed to marry a fine Lebanese or Syrian orthodox girl unless you had close ancestral ties to their nations.

Double standard is that when we Americans speak of the same preference, Antiochian Church calls it racism.

@jeremiah @gooz @TomNovak I really appreciate all the feedback. Does your church really use the word State when praying for its "leadership and military"? Words matter. I'm referring to nations. America contains multiple nations in my opinion, and there will be no further melting in the pot, one shall dominate as it has always been. We're overdue for balkanization.

I ask all this because I have yet to choose between Antiochian and OCA options I have locally, or if I should look to Sacramento.

@TomNovak @jeremiah I see your point. I just say that depending on Yale for one's livelihood will definitely not improve one's capacity for stewardship and preservation. It will be a detriment. Working from a more independent seminary or monastery would be preferable.

Yeah i'm pretty sure I recall learning that the new official [Eastern] Orthodox Catholic Church was grabbed by Bolshevik or Jewish power during the 20th century and that would be why this priest decided to go with the Autonomous Metropolia for his study and service, but I may be wrong and I definitely don't have evidence immediately at hand.

@jeremiah @TomNovak Yeah its just a matter of whether you'll take a vow of material poverty and do it for the Glory of God or whether you'll do it for Yale and live in luxury while you do. Seems that working for Yale theology dept. would be quite a worldly burden to bear.
