There are actions to racism. There are choices to racism (even subconsciously, still choices). I don't want folks to forget that.

I hate the term "racist" as a noun. It ignores the reality that racism is an institution, that it is collective complicity, that it's not just "something you are" (on par with dog-lover, chef, fan of Depeche Mode) and really feels like it lets the person get away with being accountable.

A great read, but keep in mind this isn't exclusive to Twitter. I've seen this shit from white men on Mastodon too.

I'm not just being dramatic. A very close friend of mine did some really fucked up transphobic and islamophobic and xenophobic shit.

So I dumped her.

I am literally about that life.

And if someone says "yo your friend did something racist" and you bend over backwards to defend the friend and fight the person of color and still powwow and kiki with said racist friend without any form of holding them accountable or reflecting on how they might be little shits...

then yah, in the eyes of people of color, you're an enabler and you suck too.
