@mrmcmayhem @adam Always a pleasure, i'm actually learning about this constellation, im more familiar with the North American systems so this is nice.

One other note i find very interesting, maybe OTG related, but the new generation of smartphones of last year support Galileo's signal, and is able to recieve multiple GPS signals compared to a single one "usually". Its very interesting stuff.

@mrmcmayhem @adam The Cospas-Sarsat Programme uses multiple systems for redundancy, and i dont think it is used by police, ambulance or firefighter outfits AFAIK.

The system is composed of LEOSAR, GEOSAR and MEOSAR. There is also ground stations to coordinate the beacons, and correlate the date for S&R.

@mrmcmayhem @adam I dont have much time to skim trough everything, but the Galileo constellation is equipped with "beacons" that are part of a S&R system called MEOSAR. This is part of an even larger system called Cospas-Sarsat Programme:

As you might know, time keeping is everything when it comes to GPS sats. The station in Italy is a PTF (Precise Timing Facility) and this is the station in question that has trouble.

@adam Interesting, well it does have an encrypted 1cm precision band, not sure if it was the target of the attack. I can only speculate.

It is a creepy island to say the least. Looking at the sundial at the center of the island, the southwest building with a golden dome is... strange. There was a lot of changes from 2002 to today. Now what i would like to know is when did he buy the island.

@Billistic @adam (2/2) With that said, there is not a ton of censored images on GE, heck, even Area 51 has some pretty nice high resolution imagery as you can tell from this picture (rather, Groom Lake). This one from 2017.

The tennis court, I'll have to go with Occam's razor, from what i see trough the years since 2002, the images show more indecision about "what do we do with this plot of dirt" starting with a garden (4 squares and palm trees) and then a tennis court.

@Billistic @adam (1/2) To stay on topic here, i reviewed the images, Google earth does have a nice archive spanning from 2002 to 2018 (google earth Pro is now free) but the evolution of the structures doesn't give me any red flags per say. This image here gives a bit more context. Its from 2/5/2017. The "checkerboard" pattern on the beach was clearly added after the image was taken. The problem is, this pattern was compressed altogether with the image, its not a "censor" type that google uses.
