Just occurred to me today that you younger folks who have the benefit of awesome tools like #blender might not even know that POV-RAY exists.

Pretty amazing what people are doing with this stately old piece of code these days. Check out the hall of fame, I think you'll find an image or two to be impressed by!

Many years ago, when computers were crawling, embryonic half formed things compared to what we use today, this thing was AMAZING and let anyone ray trace. It was *empowering*.

Holy crap y'all tonight I actually sat down and repeatedly refactored a chunk of code to make it easier to unit test, wrote said tests, and had said tests reveal a logic bug in the code being tested! I know that's like, THE POINT of unit testing, but I'd never actually had it happen to me before (probably because I never really even tried to write tests until recently). Can't say enough about the #100daysofcode with #python course. Amazing stuff.

Been having a blast playing around with learning MULTICS. Lots of fascinating UNIX history buried in there, and major kudos to the BAN.AI maintainers for creating this awesome bit of history we can all go play with at no cost :)

With all the #linux peeps on here, are there any #kernel hackers? Has anyone ever tried to write a driver for an unsupported laptop mouse/touch/glidepad? Wondering if this is a project surmountable by a mere mortal like myself - I have a shiny new Alienware R5 17 and Linux runs but no mouse :)
