Feed readers are a more reliable way to get news than social media. But as it isn't possible to subscribe to everything, social media works well as a discovery engine for articles that would probably be missed.

I missed that article, but perhaps a more charitable explanation, from a completely layman's point of view, is that climate science is extremely complex, while the need to take action is extremely urgent (probably).

Yes, absolutely. I've been doing that when sharing posts from our Facebook Page.

I've played with orgmode, but for ordinary notes, haven't been able to overcome the temptation to use the easy solution of Cherrytree. I'm still thinking of using it for writing and journal keeping. On my phone I have Orgzly.

Dave Winer has a good solution for an RSS aggregator, which can work on different platforms.

I've just set it up under MX Linux / Debian Stretch - my notes for setting it up are here:

Thanks. If I recall correctly, when I began to aggregate feeds, I hadn't set an expiration period, but when I did set one, it was ignored in the case of RSS type contacts, but since I'm no longer using this function, I'm not going to check again just now.

A few months ago I tried using hubzilla to pull in a few feeds from blogs. I figured blogs would be less intensive than, say, news sites, which create hundreds or thousands of stories. But I abandoned the attempt because it slowly pulled in entire blogs, going back 10 years or more, rather than limiting to recent stories. Also they would unpredictably arrive in bunches. I think there are better tools to collect feeds. But maybe I was doing something wrong.

Quite happy with Privacy Badger in Waterfox and Tor.
I try not to browse from phone; when I do, I use Firefox Klar.

It seems to me that the god Odin or Wotan should be related to Indra, though no one seems to suggest that, and that all of these should be related to the word Water (which is from the same indo-european root as Unda in Latin), though no one seems to suggest that either. I think the d and the n got switched around, and that the gods might have been associated in an earlier form with the seas.

"Samples from the Borneo site in Indonesia's East Kalimantan region also dated two red-orange hand stencils at 37,200 years old, and a third possibly as old as 52,000 years," that's what caught my attention, in another article about this. Imagine another group coming along 15,000 years later, and overlaying the original hand stencils with theri own.
