I wrote up the API I'm thinking about for my #ActivityPub #PHP library! If you're interested in building federated PHP applications, I'd really appreciate if you check it out:

    https://github.com/pterotype-project/activitypub-php

I opened an issue where people can give feedback and discuss the API so that we can make sure it will meet the needs of Fediverse developers. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please contribute to the discussion:

I wrote up some Opinions™ about iterating on the #ActivityPub protocol and how we can continue improving it without sacrificing compatibility or fracturing the network: https://jeremydormitzer.com/blog/activitypub-good-enough-for-jazz/. Comments welcome here or on the post.

    1. ActivityPub: Good Enough for Jazz
      By Jeremy from Jeremy Dormitzer
Kaniini, one of the lead developers of Pleroma, recently published a blog post called ActivityPub: The "Worse is Better" Approach to Federated Social Networking. It's a critique of the security and safety of the ActivityPub protocol. They make some good points: ActivityPub doesn't support fine-grained access control checks, e.g. I want someone to be able [...]

Still no documentation and not anywhere close to done, but my #ActivityPub #PHP library is open source at https://github.com/pterotype-project/activitypub-php.

My goal is to provide a well-tested, flexible library that handles the complicated parts of ActivityPub (JSON-LD, persistence, addressing, etc.) in a way that can be plugged into an existing PHP codebase with no hassle. That'll help me refactor #Pterotype, and will also make it easy for other developers to make developers to make plugins for Joomla, Drupal, etc.

This is the problem we need to solve as Fediverse app developers. The vast majority of people don't know or care about ActivityPub or decentralized protocols. If we want federation to become the new paradigm, we need a better answer to this question.

I've switched to not use the phrase ActivityPub as much as possible. It just doesn't resonate. Fediverse is better, but I still don't have a good sound byte to explain it to the layperson.

Got comment syncing working for #Pterotype! Still need to do some testing to make sure I caught all the edge cases, but I'm planning to get this released to the plugin repository in the next few days 🤓

I've settled on a name for my #ActivityPub #WordPress plugin - #Pterotype! It's an early precursor to the typewriter, which seemed appropriate for WordPress.

Honestly though, the main reason I chose it is now it can have a cute Pterodactyl logo. That will go nicely with Mastodon's prehistoric theme!

Now I just need to find someone who can draw a cute pterodactyl...

I've been thinking about an #ActivityPub implementation for #Wordpress. My idea supports:

    - publishing blog posts and comments to ActivityPub-compliant servers, letting users follow/reply to/share/like these via other compliant services
    - @-mentioning other ActivtyPub actors (e.g. Mastodon users) in posts and comments
    - commenting on posts from Mastodon or other ActivityPub services

I've written up some technical notes at https://gist.github.com/jdormit/1049324b95e5096be20ee9ad1d749104. I'd appreciate feedback, so please comment there!

@icaria36 As for why WordPress - it runs half the internet! Making a one-click install plugin that puts a WP server onto ActivityPub has the potential to dramatically increase mindshare and usage of Mastodon, PeerTube, and other ActivityPub apps.

I'm thinking about building an #ActivityPub plugin for #Wordpress. Does anyone know if something like that already exists? Is anyone else interested in that?
