Yeah. Novavax has been submitted for approval in Canada, but hasn't been approved yet. And I wouldn't be able to get Covaxin or Sinovac without leaving the country. The only other vaccine currently approved in Canada is J&J (which AIUI is similar to AZ), but it isn't being used for boosters.

A bit over a week ago, this Friendica instance suddenly stopped receiving posts over ActivityPub. It took me a while to figure it out, but it turned out that my server's clock was drifting, and at some point drifted to be more than 5 minutes off, which caused issues with signature verification. So I fixed the NTP configuration on my server, and now things seem to be back to normal. I've missed about a week of posts, but I guess I'll survive.

We seem to have been here before. The province begins opening up just as a new variant threatens to take hold. Our overall R value is about 0.8, but the R value for the Delta variant is over 1.2, and we're less than a week into re-opening. We'll see how we fare this time, but it didn't turn out that well last time.

My understanding (based on www.nytimes.com/interactive/20… ) is that AZ is DNA-based rather than mRNA based, but it's still the same underlying principle in that it contains the blueprints for your body to create the spike protein.

Trying to get a vaccine here is frustrating, with at least three different streams that you can go through to get vaccinated, one of which I only found out about from Reddit. But I managed to book a vaccination for next Monday. I'll consider it an early birthday present.

Ugh. Our Premier "apologizes" for the latest round restrictions and says that he "moved too fast". No, the problem is that you moved too slowly (there were warnings weeks ago that stronger measures needed to be implemented), and that you didn't listen to your science advisors about what measures to implement and implemented the wrong measures.

The Ontario government's plan for controlling the spread of Covid-19 includes giving police the authority to stop people who are outside and get their address, which even the police departments say they don't want, but you just know that it will be used by some police officers in questionable ways.
But their plan does not include making sure that essential workers have paid sick days, even though their science advisory team asked for it, and workplaces are one of the biggest causes of spread.
