@pkotrcka Well, it's not important to me how widely seen it is, really. To me, it's kind of exciting that it occurs what so ever. I mean, I'd kind of get a kick out of seeing that in person, before it's gone forever.

@saxnot I think all he's saying is that if there's a change like that at all, it's not going to affect his generation because they'll all be dead soon anyway. Dad has always been humble. Also, he's smart enough to be aware that history (and generational conflict) repeats itself, so I doubt he thinks the next generation is more likely to mess up. He worked as a political reporter in a newspaper for many decades.

@saxnot I'm not reading that into it at all. What I'm reading into it is that he's getting old (the man is retired after all) and that he's seen worse, and isn't terribly worried.

@pkotrcka I saw some clips from a pretty new documentary of what looked like a whole village living in a very traditional manner. It wasn't a dramatisation, but my eyes thought it was for a moment, until it became clear that they were actually living in that way. Yes, there were a number of old people, but also a couple of women who looked to be in their 30s, and that was particularly striking to me.

@saxnot I could write with him in English if I wanted to. He speaks it fluently. He used the English phrase "commander in chief" sarcastically, for example, so I had to add a "Mr." to it to get the same effect across in English.
