My favorite device in terms of engineering ingenuity is a rice cooker. How does it know the rice is done? It's not a timer because the time varies. It knows that when temp >100C, the water is gone. But not via thermostat, but a freaking magnet that loses strength at >100C. Genius

@frankiesaxx I think that was mine as well… but I dual-booted, and the effort of fighting the winmodem drove me off #Linux for any meaningful time until we got broadband. I worked on Win2k through high school, then moved to an Apple TiBook when I graduated.
I still keep a laptop with #Fedora installed in the office for occasional Linux work, but #macOS keeps me happy.
