TAS came out four years after Star Trek (TOS) closed (the gap was 1969–1973) and was simply called Star Trek at the time. It's basically Star Trek season 4[0] with the animation allowing reduced stage and acting budget and allowing the aliens to be more than forehead aliens.

They removed Chekov. Barrett and Doohan are voicing two bridge crew each and almost all the aliens. The animation is Filmation with lots of stills, low framerate, etc. The voice acting is much more wooden than the live acting on TOS.

TOS had inconsistent writing, but TAS goes even wilder and generally throws physics entirely out the window. It does some interesting things too though and is worth watching for the dedicated fan. The alien aliens are the best part.

They were all on Earth once but were driven off-planet by bigoted humans for performing magic.

[0] It's "two seasons", but they have 16+6 episodes (!) and there's no significance to the split, so apart from official numbering you can treat it as simply one season of 22 episodes.

Wow, the TAS crew sure spend a lot of time talking about "primitive cultures".

#TheCreator could have been an amazing movie. Great ideas, concepts and themes, fantastic visuals, great actors. Somewhat interesting premise, worldbuilding and backstory.

Ironically enough the script feels as if it were written by ChatGPT instead of someone who understands humans: Just take all of the above, run it very quickly in the blender and pour out a jumble of events too chunky to even be a smoothie.

So many actions taken by the main humans make no sense for that character to do. The plot twists revealed two hours into the movie could be guessed five minutes in, except one, but that one is instead "really? oh, come on". Over and over as a new plot element was revealed I felt like, wow, I see what they're trying to do here, I wish I could see the movie they were trying to make instead of seeing the one that fell out.

There is a fedi index somewhere that keeps track of who-blocks-who.

I can easily go to an instance to see who they are blocking themselves, but this shows who they're being blocked by. Where's that again?

Actually I have enjoyed some of the clip shows they out together during strikes, with some back catalog material I hadn't previously seen, but it will be good to be back on original fresh material.

@Patrick V. 🇧🇪🇹🇭 Yeah, no corporate environment, no such thing as "internal review". In smaller places I just hung out and solved problems with friends.

Now I need to rephrase that as proactive engagement with clients, contributing to team spirit and working with an innovative mindset that provides premium value to stakeholders and shows commitment and responsibility.

I'm helping my manager write good things about myself for internal review and my skin is crawling.

This is *not* my natural mode of talking about myself.

It's like a running gag in TAS that each episode should have some exotic name that everyone except Shatner can pronounce.
