@lynnesbian @unascribed Java hasn't had bad performance since the 90's, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Python is significantly slower than Java was even back when it was slow, so the point about stigma is definitely true.

A bit of background: Several years ago I pledged to a kickstarter by Jeri Ellsworth. It was successful but after a few years their company had to close. Amazingly, they managed to find resources to pay back all the money they got from the kickstarter.

But she didn't give up, and now they're restarted the project, and of course I pledged to it.

@quad @fristi Every time you see some piece of good news indicating that perhaps MS is less evil now than they used to be, they remind you that no, in fact they are still the same old company they always were.

They just seem less evil now because now there are companies like Amazon and Facebook that puts them to shame.

@angristan This is shot in Singapore. It's indeed very well made. And yes, there really is that much construction going on, since the island is very small.

Most people here go out and I the race for the music shows and other side activities. At least that's my experience.
