If anyone would like to follow some of the same journals, I've uploaded them to my site as an opml, which you can import into most RSS readers. h/t to @dgold for the suggestion.

    Download it here: http://lrhodes.net/assets/files/open_access_academic_journals.opml.xml

These are specifically feeds for open access articles, so you shouldn't hit any paywalls. And if you have any suggestions for other journals that have an RSS feed for open access articles, do let me know!

“Why deplore ‘collapse,’ when the situation it depicts is most often the disaggregation of a complex, fragile, and typically oppressive state into smaller, decentralized fragments?” (209) Scholars deplore it, Scott suggests, because states leave more records and archaeological traces. There’s often little to study left by dispersed populations.

      Humanities One
      from Mastodon hosted on humanities.one
Topics for discussion include anthropology, archaeology, the arts, ethnic and gender studies, history, linguistics, literature, philosophy, political science, religion, and so on. Professionals, academics, students and amateurs welcome. Share your #HumanitiesReading. H1 is an experiment in using the features of Mastodon to carve out a space for conversations about specific topics. The goal is to devote the local timeline (visible to humanities.one accounts and on the front page of the site) as narrowly as possible to discussion of the humanities. (FAQ: Local Timeline) To that end, please mark personal and off-topic posts "unlisted." If you intend to use your H1 presence as your principle account on Mastodon, consider making "unlisted" your default privacy status and only making messages "public" when they're on-topic. (FAQ: Status Privacy) Looking for instances with overlapping themes? If you need more language and linguistics, check out polyglot.city. Academics in all fields can check out scholar.social. For STEM scholars, there's QOTO.org, mathstodon.xyz, and scicomm.xyz.
