The movie we should have watched this week, The White Parade, is the last flick with no extent copies outside of the UCLA Film Archives vault, so instead, we picked another (not nominated) movie from 1934 with a spoooooky them.

It's out now on iTunes and you can listen on my website here:

No spoilers-- if you want to know what movie we reviewed, you'll have to listen, but there's a hint in the image.

Whooooooo's ready for some wild facts about this week's Screen Test of Time movie, Cecil B. DeMille's Horny on Main... errr, I mean, Cleopatra?

(There's no visible nudity in the image, but there is a clearly naked woman in a bubble bath.)

It’s apparently Frankenstein Day... or Mary Shelley’s birthday. Weird that they made her birthday Frankenstein Day.

Anyway, the book is 200 years old this year! But the movie, with Boris Karloff, which is amazing, came out in 1931.

We watched it for the 1930/1931 awards because there’s only one extant copy of East Lynne, and it’s in a super secret vault at UCLA. You can check out our episode on this phenomenal flick here: http://www.suzaneraslan.net/screen-test-of-time/2018/4/10/screen-test-of-time-ep-15-not-east-lynne
