@hankg Agreed, and for seminars it wouldn't be great. But neither is putting up your hand and showing ignorance in front of your peers!

I see this article and the reaction to fewer students going to lectures as the death rattle of an antiquated system.

Why does anyone care if "twice as many students skip lectures" when the videos are available online? If they're literally just providing transmission of information, then surely video is a bettet, more accessible format?
