People should not bring politics into programming, regardless if it's for a personally understood good cause or not. It goes against the nature of open source software. (Even though I'd love ICE to not use anything I use, who am I to limit something open?)
By asking to stop politics, the very statement is political by nature. It's politics over ceasing politics over national politics. ๐
