@tpheine @NYbill more than likely, I'll be printing 3-5 documents per year; most likely sheet music. A b/w laser printer should do the trick.
-
@edi it's the catch-22 of printing. I don't print because I don't have a printer, but I want to print a few documents, so I need a printer, and if I have a printer, will I be more likely to print more stuff? thanks for the suggestions; I'll look into Canon's offerings.

@vegos refilling isn't a problem, as long as the manufacturer doesn't use nefarious means toprohibit refilling cartridges.
-
Dear #lazyfeds, I desire to own a printer, and I would like recommendations for something that has sanely priced replaceable ink cartridges. Does anyone have a suggestion?

@NYbill We'll see what happens tomorrow when the problem comes back.
-
@NYbill if I could get a single escalation, I would be incredibly pleased
-
@NYbill preaching to the choir. I do not enjoy explaining DNS and Github to tier1 script readers.
-
@NYbill an hour on the phone... and tier 1 managed to do *something*. DNS is working again.
-
@NYbill tunneling works fine, but there is a significant speed hit, and I don't have a way (yet) to initiate the tunnel with my router.
-
@NYbill for whatever reason, using alternative DNS doesn't help when I am connected through the satellite connection
-
it takes 3 and a half minutes just to get into the call queue with my ISP's online support
-
@NYbill .....and now Github isn't accessible; you jinxed it!
-
@NYbill haha! jokes on you buddy! the speeds are crap, the latency is crap... but DNS is resolving! Hello Internet! :D
-
Ohhhh yea! My new satellite modem has arrived! Hopefully this will be the end of the DNS problems.

John Conway has passed. Some years ago I implemented his Game of Life as a programming challenge. It was a fun way to learn new things (and have a mesmerizing result). Without Conway's influence, I certainly wouldn't be the person I am today. Thank you John.

@NYbill that sounds like work that requires "effort". No thank you! :)

@NYbill This year I'll be selling a few to a neighbor with 10 acres and no desire to push a lawn mower.
