White teenagers think it's acceptable to "act out" with symbols of hate because they have absorbed the white American value that racial equality is a matter of respectability, not morality. Because white ppl's idea of racial harmony is so divorced from moral values but consists of injunctions for politeness (don't say slurs etc.) their children break these injunctions for simple shock value without caring who they're hurting.

it turns out the real "stranger things" is how our media keeps recycling stories from the past because our culture cant conceive of a better future

Good morning friends! Clouds simmering away again at last & the heat is a big relief. I'd thought the buddleia looming over our fence was flowering, but evidently that was just a prelude—now in full bloom & w/warmth distilling the perfume its sweet scent is a powerful, almost physical presence filling the garden like a bowl.

Heavy lethargy slowly lifting—aiming to be patient still, let recovery take its time.

May we recognise our own value today, & nurture ties w/those who treat us w/respect!
