    (2/2) Of course, the only plutonium ever on site was contained in irradiated fuel elements, slugs of uranium metal canned in magnesium alloy. Once unloaded, these were held about a hundred days, then sent on to Windscale (on the Irish Sea) for reprocessing. Only there could Pu have found a path to the outside world.

    @greenjon @jkl In fact this is almost what the Japanese had before the Meiji Restoration. To get in step with the rest of the world, they added two new weekdays to the (Chinese-derived) traditional five. This is why “Sunday” & “Monday” in Japanese are “Nichiyobi” & “Getsuyobi”, where “nichi” is 日 meaning “sun”, & “getsu” is 月, “moon”.
