@maxx XMPP for group chats? Wow, that actually works for you? For me, XMPP rooms were always hellish to navigate. As for IRC, sure I use it, but it fills a very different use case than group chats like Zulip/Rocket/etc.
For communication within the RC community, the open source software https://zulipchat.com is playing a central role. I love it! It's a bit like Slack, but you attach a short "topic" to each message, similar to an email subject: https://zulipchat.com/why-zulip/
@maxx Nah, if a project focuses on browser UI above native UI, usually that gap only widens over time. I already have plenty of friends not using alternative chat platforms (or Mastodon, for that matter) for exactly the lack of proper platform support. Not really interested in yet another variation on that.
@maxx Sure! How is the native app situation? What are the pain points of self-hosting? Are there things you like or dislike specifically about the interface? Do you use any integrations with other tools?
Has anybody here used Zulip? It looks like group chat software I might actually enjoy, what with having conversations threaded by topic(!!) and what not. https://zulipchat.com/
This is both a very thoughtful and informative talk about modern reactivity in the browser, and a BRILLIANT demo of Svelte. Wow. Great pacing, explanation of concepts, and gorgeous demos. Brilliant, really. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdNJ3fydeao
@1183519e Nein.
Looking for software to organize images (not necessarily photos) by tags/categories. Should run on Linux. No special photographer software, or anything. Ideas/hitns/experiences?
