My slab of glass and silicon is getting hot and tired. Time to plug it into the wall.

@jack If we are anything like tomcats, testosterone makes us want to roam about.

@jack Are you sure it's not the other way around? I find that these subtle little things came first, and then came an urge to roam more than usual, which usually requires a means of transportation.

@jack If you're anything like me, that'll definitely de-tense a few muscles, and make you go "Huh, I guess I needed a drink."

@jack Maybe this is also why I'm only learning to drive now. Not sure if this is just me having bits of me coming online later than they should, though. I mean, most people *do* seem to have enjoyed partying as teens, and *did* get their license back then. *shrug*

@jack Another thing I've noticed, and this may just be me, but I actually enjoy having a drink now in a way that I frankly didn't when I was 15. A couple of years back, I had the bizarre experience of having a drink in a nightclub and actually kind of liking it. If I didn't know better, I'd say that this is what I we were all doing a poor impression of when we were 15. Bizarrely, this is also the age when most people are making babies.

@jack It's like a gradual continuation of puberty. It kind of took a break for 20 years and now it's apparently back for some finishing touches...

I seem to be getting more "wolf-like" with age. My facial hair is fuller and darker now, and my voice is gradually getting deeper. Also, although I retain many of my old insecurities, my skin has thickened somewhat. What is this sorcery?

@coldacid Being a Millennial is probably why I struggle to feel happy about a simple steady paycheck. Then again, my workplace is full of Millennials who seem to have done exactly that. Breaking the mold might be more common among Millennials, but it's far from universal.

Clipping from Hacker News comment section...
Maturity is to conclude that working for other people sucks? I don't think my parents would agree with that. My dad wasn't particularly lazy on the job before he retired.
I mean... I do think working for somebody else sucks, but starting and running a successful business isn't trivial.
I suspect that this definition of maturity isn't found outside of the entepreneurial crowd that you find on Hacker News.

@selea I guess. Maybe everyone's so specific in their interests that it's extremely rare to find common ground. I don't know. There seems to be more to it than that, though...

@guizzy But if you aren't in favour of policy changes, you'd fall in the "insignificant" camp.

@guizzy There is only room for 4 options in the polls, and very short descriptions for the alternatives, so it would've been difficult to be more nuanced.

Adults don't ever want to just do stuff. As a kid, you could just ask the kid next door if they wanted to play, and that was your afternoon.
You can't really do that as an adult. You can't ask people if they're up for doing a hobby project together and expect a yes.
Even at the hacker/maker space I hang out at, it's just a gathering of people doing various solo projects. The only group activities I see are people taking courses.
Why are we so dull?
