@blaha Walking a long distance to get somewhere gives you a goal, so you're not bored, but it also leaves your mind free for other things. It's actually nice to just forget about cyberspace for a while and take in the real world around you.

@blaha A few things about my new commute surprise me...
1. Walking only takes twice as long as taking the bus.
2. Taking a walk at 7 AM is a lot nicer than sitting on a bus, at least this time of year.
3. On the bus, I either have my nose in a smartphone, or I listen to music. When I walk, however, my only sensory input is quiet streets and birds singing, and this prompts my thoughts to wander, stimulating my creativity.

@blaha Seeing as I have recently begun taking 4.5 km walks to work instead of taking the bus, and that's the only exercise I get, and I need to lose weight, I wouldn't recommend it to me...

2. What can I use this valuable spare time for? I know! I'll...
3. ...oh, it's bedtime.

If a DAW could be made to always record synced video from your webcam whenever you record an audio clip, you'd always have material to make a jam video of it afterward, especially if you can also assign different webcams to different audio tracks, say a separate camera for your MIDI keyboard.

I don't think I have ever seen a video editor that lets you record like a DAW, or a DAW that lets you record video along with your audio. All the YouTube jam videos are edited in post, which is a hell of a lot of work. Wouldn't it be nice to just get a bunch of video tracks together with your audio, and some buttons to insert key frames to switch/fade/PIP them at the right moments, and then a thing that renders that as a video together with the finished audio mix?

@ServerStatus The hard part would be to map decentralised accounts to things that look like Mastodon accounts. Mastodon expects there to be instances with accounts on them, and that concept wouldn't exist in a decentralised network.

@ServerStatus Decentralised as in nodes in a cryptocurrency network, not peer-to-peer as in LimeWire. For example, steemit.com and busy.org are nodes/mirrors in the STEEM news aggregation network.

@ServerStatus Yes, I did at one point. It was too much maintenance work. This is a systemic issue with the entire network. It tempts me more to work on a decentralised system that talks to Mastodon than to run my own instance. I'm just not cut out for being a sysadmin.

Yeah, I *really* don't like how you're completely helpless if the particular Mastodon instance you've posted something from goes down. You can't do a delete and redraft from anywhere else, since it's the instance who controls your identity and data, and not you.
