Historically one of the biggest mistakes and examples of naivete the left continues to commit to is to underestimate the influence of elitist ideological culture as well as racism. Lula himself made this same mistake. There is no 'Social Democracy' bargain you can strike with that class of ppl that will be acceptable to them. No amount of higher and more stable profits will be enough. Logic will not be enough. The threat of hypocrisy will not be enough. Because this is an ideological battle.

Agreed, yes theres the machine, yes there’s corruption, yes they have money, but that’s why we have to overwhelm them with our numbers and our militants.

Ppl get annoyed about local politics and I get it. But this is the shit that affects your day to day. This is what decides if you’re getting 5 yrs for J-walking or a condescending finger wag. This shit decides if you’re going to be a rent refugee moving apt to apt every single year or whether you have actual rent control so you can plant roots. This makes and breaks entire lives. And these ARE battles we can actually win.
